La. man confesses to threatening DC pizzeria

A Louisiana man confessed to calling in a threat to a northwest Washington pizza restaurant in December in relation to the so-called Pizzagate scandal, The Washington Post reported Thursday.

Yusef Lee Jones, 52 of Shreveport, La., was arrested last month and charged with making an interstate threatening communication after he allegedly telephoned Besta Pizza in Northwest Washington and threatened to shoot up the restaurant.

The threat was made in reference to a Dec. 4 incident at another pizzeria, Comet Ping Pong, right down the road. Edgar Maddison Welch, 28 of North Carolina, entered Comet Ping Pong with an AR-15 rifle and fired shots after claiming to be investigating an baseless internet conspiracy theory that it was a front for a child sex ring tied to Hillary Clinton and her former campaign chairman John Podesta.

{mosads}“I’m coming to finish what the other guy didn’t,” Jones said, according to court documents obtained by The Post and Fox 5 News in D.C.

“I’m coming there to save the kids and then I’m going to shoot you and everyone in the place.”

Police were able to trace the phone number that appeared on Besta Pizza’s caller ID to Jones, who admitted that he had made the phone call and was arrested four days later.

In conversations with police, Jones said that he believed the conspiracy theory about Comet Ping Pong. He is set to be sentenced on April 12.
