Libertarian VP pick releases doctor’s letter
Libertarian vice presidential candidate Bill Weld released a letter from his physician Friday stating that he is in good health.
Weld, 71, is “in good health and leads an active life,” according to the letter from Kevin Heaton at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston released by his campaign.
{mosads}The former Massachusetts governor’s medical conditions include “well-controlled hypertension, atrial fibrillation and high cholesterol.”
He has “completely recovered” from tick-borne infections he suffered from the past two summers and was treated for benign colonic polyps and basal cell carcinoma, or skin growths, his doctor said.
Weld doesn’t smoke and drinks two glasses of wine “most nights a week,” the letter states.
Weld takes medication for hypertension, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease prevention and for his atrial fibrillation.
“From a health standpoint, he should have no difficulty serving as Vice President of the United States,” his doctor wrote.
Gary Johnson, the Libertarian presidential nominee, released a letter from his doctor last month that found him in top physical condition.
