Pelosi: ‘No question’ that Russia hacked DNC

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday said she is certain Russia was behind the hack of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

{mosads}“The Russians hacked the Democratic National Committee,” she told MSNBC during an interview at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. “There is no question about that. My source is not the Intelligence Committee of the Congress of the United States. It is what I know: They have hacked. That’s a fact.”

Pelosi said Secretary of State John Kerry may have already discussed the leak of DNC emails with his Russian counterpart.

“My understanding is that Secretary Kerry may have even brought it up with the foreign minister of Russia already,” she said of Sergey Lavrov. “So that’s a fact. What they did with the information, and what they’re doing with the Republicans, I have no knowledge of. But somebody dumped it during this convention, so it serves somebody’s purpose.”

Kerry told reporters Tuesday that he had brought the issue up with Lavrov but stopped short of making any accusations. The FBI announced Monday that it would investigate the incident.

WikiLeaks last Friday published a trove of 20,000 DNC emails spanning from last January to late May.

Some of the messages show top DNC officials seemingly planning to undermine Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and his White House run.

The leak’s revelations overshadowed the first day of the Democratic convention, with Sanders supporters repeatedly disrupting the event with protests.

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager on Sunday said Russia may have orchestrated the controversy to aid GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“It’s troubling. Some experts are telling us this was done by the Russians for the purpose of helping Donald Trump,” Robby Mook said on ABC’s “This Week.”
