Satellite images suggest North Korea preparing for another nuclear test: think tank
A U.S. think tank said Friday that North Korea could be preparing for another nuclear test, based on satellite images from the country’s nuclear test site.
{mosads}The 38 North website, run by Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, said the images show vehicle movement at the site “not often seen there except during preparations for a test,” Reuters reports.
The isolated country conducted a nuclear test that it claimed was of a hydrogen bomb in early January, its fourth such test, heightening tensions in the region and with the U.S.
North Korea on Friday held a rare congress meeting, the first in decades. Al-Jazeera reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hailed the country’s “magnificent” progress of the nuclear program in his opening remarks.
