Scarborough: I won’t vote for Trump if he sticks by Muslim ban

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough on Thursday insisted he’d “never” vote for Donald Trump if the presumptive GOP presidential nominee sticks to his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country.

“I’m never gonna vote for a guy that is saying he’s going to ban somebody just because of the god they worship,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.”

{mosads}The host said he was “surprised and disappointed” that Trump on Wednesday stood by his controversial proposal, first announced in December, after becoming the presumptive nominee.

“That’s a loser; it’s a loser with the majority of Americans, and you’ve got Republicans like me — I just, I’m not going to vote for a guy” who advocates that, Scarborough said.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski said Trump might pivot toward a more focused call for vetting some entering the U.S.

“He’s got to make that turn fast,” Scarborough said.

Trump stuck by his proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States during a phone interview on the show the previous day, saying, “We have to find out what the hell is going on.

“I don’t know if it hurts me or not. I really don’t know if it hurts me. I don’t care if it hurts me. I’m doing the right thing when I do this,” Trump said.
