Bill Clinton: ‘I almost want to apologize’ for clash with protesters

Bill Clinton on Friday expressed regret for “talking past” a protestor during a rally a day earlier, saying it “bothers” him when activists try to drown him out.

“I did something yesterday in Philadelphia, I almost want to apologize for it, but I want to use it as an example of the danger threatening our country,” he said at an event in Erie, Pa.

{mosads}”I realized, finally, I was talking past her in the way she was talking past me. We got to stop that in this country. We got to listen to each other,” Clinton added during his remarks.

The former president said he was defending his wife and called it “interesting” that protesters were going after the crime bill he signed in the 1990s, pointing to his wife’s record.

Clinton has repeatedly defended himself from criticism during a clash with protesters on Thursday, who interrupted his speech to criticize the crime bill he signed in 1994 that raised mandatory minimum sentences and has been blamed for the nation’s high incarceration rate.
