Megyn Kelly looking forward to questioning Trump again
Megyn Kelly indicated Friday that she has questions lined up for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, assuming he shows up at the Fox News debate next month.
“The bigger question in my mind is whether Donald Trump will be at that one,” the Fox News host said during an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
{mosads}“I think he will be — he hasn’t committed yet — but I think he’ll show up at that one, which is great because Brett, Chris and I will be moderating it,” Kelly said, referring to Fox colleagues Bret Baier and Chris Wallace.
The trio will be reprising their role as debate moderators in March after they moderated the first GOP debate in August. Trump fumed for months over Kelly asking him in that debate about his previous comments disparaging women.
“It was bizarre because I became the story. He was so very focused on me that I became the story and, you know, you never want to be the story when you’re a news person, you want to be covering the story,” Kelly told ABC.
“I stand by every question I asked him and he was not the only one who had tough questions,” she added. “He was the only one, however, who complained.”
The real estate tycoon skipped the Fox news debate last week, days before the Iowa caucuses, where he took second to Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas). Candidates are vying for position in New Hampshire ahead of the Tuesday primary there.
“We will just move our Trump questions from the last debate over to this debate. And I’ll finally get a chance to ask him,” Kelly said Friday about preparations for the network’s debate next month.
Republicans have four debates before then, including one Saturday night hosted by ABC.
Kelly on Friday also weighed into rhetoric during this year’s cycle, including from Trump, saying that “the problem with language like ‘bimbo’ and so on” is “it gins up other comments along those lines, which is diminishing obviously not just to the woman who is attacked but to women in general.”
