‘Daily Show’ host Trevor Noah to speak at Dem retreat
Comedian and “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah will speak to a group of House Democrats at a retreat in Baltimore next week, a Democratic aide told CNN on Friday.
{mosads}President Obama and Vice President Biden are also scheduled to address lawmakers at the gathering, the aide added.
The annual meeting is a chance to discuss the caucus’ legislative strategy, which could have implications on the 2016 presidential race and the heated nominating contest between Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
The conference’s theme is “united for opportunity,” which Democrats plan to contrast with a splintering Republican Party struggling to maintain unity.
In addition to Noah, who recently took over for Jon Stewart as host of the popular Comedy Central satirical news show, Democrats have invited to the event wealthy businessman Tom Steyer and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, CNN reported.
The retreat is scheduled for next Wednesday through Friday at a hotel in Baltimore.
