Video of El Chapo raid released
Mexican media network Televisa has obtained video allegedly showing a gun battle during the operation that led to the capture of drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
The video appears to have been taken from a body camera worn by a military member participating in the assault on Guzman’s safe house in Los Mochis.
{mosads}A volley of gunfire is heard in the video, which was posted online by the journalist Carlos Loret de Mola, as marines sweep through a house during the operation dubbed “Black Swan.”
The edited video does not show Guzman, who reportedly slipped out through a tunnel in the house and was captured later Friday, ending a massive manhunt that started after he escaped prison in Mexico last summer.
Mexican authorities have started the process to extradite Guzman to the United States.
Actor Sean Penn interviewed the notorious drug kingpen in the months after his July 2015 escape, and published the interview over the weekend.
