MSNBC host sends testy Trump interview to break
MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough made good on a threat Tuesday morning to send an interview with Donald Trump to a commercial break if the real estate mogul didn’t stop talking.
“All right, Donald,” Scarborough, a former Florida GOP representative who has repeatedly interviewed Trump, interjected after Trump offered a lengthy answer to another question from co-host Mika Brzezinski and repeatedly interrupted.
{mosads}”You’ve got to let us ask questions, you can’t just talk,” Scarborough continued as Trump, who called in by phone for the interview, kept speaking and tried to correct the host.
“Donald, Donald, Donald, Donald, Donald, you’re not going to keep talking. We will go to break if you keep talking. We’re gonna ask you a question,” Scarborough said.
“Go to break, then, Joe,” Trump responded.
Scarborough, visibly perturbed after the combative exchange, immediately instructed producers to cut to commercials as Brzezinski looked on as the segment abruptly ended.
After a short break, Brzezinski led with the next question to Trump, who stayed on the line.
Trump prefers to call in for multiple television programs instead of appearing in person. He called into “Morning Joe,” ABC’s “Good Morning America” and CNN’s “New Day” on Tuesday morning where he defended his call to bar all Muslims, except U.S. citizens living abroad, from entering the U.S. amid stoked terrorism fears.
