Russia-linked hackers repeatedly tried to trick former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton into granting them access to her private email account, The Associated Press reported Wednesday.
{mosads}Citing newly released emails, the AP said that at least five times, Clinton received emails disguised as speeding tickets that asked her to print attached files.
If she had done so, it would have exposed her account. It’s unclear whether Clinton clicked on any of the links in the emails.
Security experts told the AP that the trick would have transmitted data to at least three overseas locations, including one in Russia. However, that does not mean Russians were the culprit.
