Chelsea Clinton: Negative perceptions of Mom ‘surprising’

Chelsea Clinton said Tuesday that it’s surprising to her that everyone doesn’t love her mom like she does.

“It is always surprising to me, because my mom is my hero and one of the people that I admire and love most in the world,” Clinton said of her mother Hillary Clinton.

Chelsea Clinton made the comments during an interview on NBC’s “Today” show after host Savannah Guthrie asked her about recent polling in which respondents associated Hillary Clinton with words such as “dishonest,” “untrustworthy” and “liar.”

{mosads}”I’m not a pundit, I’m a daughter,” Chelsea Clinton responded, adding, “I love and admire my mom. I know that she’s talking about issues that are important to families across our country. I believe that’s starting to resonate.”

Hillary Clinton has seen a 21-point drop in support for her White House bid since July, according to a Washington Post/ABC News poll released Monday. Other polls have suggested Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is leading Clinton in the early-voting state of New Hampshire and has closed the gap with her in Iowa.

“I just continue to believe, as more people see more of her, will come to know why I believe so strongly that she would make a great president and reach the same conclusions,” Chelsea Clinton said Tuesday on NBC.
