Bin Laden family members killed in plane crash

Three relatives of the late Osama bin Laden were killed Friday when a private plane crashed in southern England.

The Associated Press reported Saturday that local police believed the mother, sister and brother-in-law of the plane’s owner were all members of the bin Laden family. The three Saudi family members, as well as the Jordanian pilot, were all killed in the crash. No one on the ground was injured.

{mosads}NBC News identified the victims as bin Laden’s stepmother, Rajaa Hashim, his sister Sana bin Laden, and her husband Zuhair Hashim.

The plane reportedly crashed in a parking lot near a small airport outside London, after leaving Milan earlier in the day. The bin Ladens were in Britain on vacation.

The bin Laden family owns a major construction company in Saudi Arabia, but broke ties with Osama bin Laden in 1994, after Saudi Arabia stripped him of his citizenship due to his militant activities.

The al Qaeda leader was killed by U.S. troops in 2011 after they raided his compound in Pakistan.
