President Obama and his national security team held a video conference with the team of Americans conducting Iran negotiations in Vienna, the White House said Wednesday evening.
{mosads}“The President reviewed the progress of negotiations to date, and provided guidance related to our ongoing efforts to achieve a good deal between the P5+1 and Iran that meets our requirements,” a White House statement read.
Secretary of State John Kerry and Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz are among the negotiators for the U.S.
Kerry said Sunday that talks “could go either way” as the sides approach the deadline, which was extended earlier this week to July 10.
The Iran deal is a major test of the president’s doctrine of engaging with the U.S.’s traditional adversaries to address common interests.
