Blunt Barbara Bush tells Jeb: You’re not my favorite son
Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush can count on his mom Barbara Bush’s vote for president — but like any other mom, she’s undeclared in saying whether he’s her favorite child.
A new campaign video shows Jeb Bush and the former first lady talking behind the scenes earlier this week, before his recent campaign announcement in Miami.
“The best news of the day was that my mom finally said I was her favorite,” Bush, the former Florida governor, quipped to his mom.
{mosads}”Oh no I didn’t,” she said laughing. “You mean of all of the children?”
“Yeah,” Bush deadpanned.
“No,” she quipped.
Barbara Bush is known for her quick-witted humor and blunt commentary. During an interview with NBC in April 2013, she said that “we’ve had enough Bushes” in the White House.
He joked about his mother’s comments earlier this year at a fundraiser in Florida. She then appeared by video at the event to walk back her remarks.
“Jeb, it’s Mom. Listen, what do you mean too many Bushes?” she said. “I changed my mind.”
Jeb Bush vowed to take nothing for granted during his campaign.
“I will take nothing and no one for granted,” Bush said in his announcement. “I will run with heart and I will run to win.”
