Obama to visit Kenya
President Obama will make his first visit to Kenya as president in July, the White House announced Monday.
The president will attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, a gathering of start-ups, businesses and government leaders.
{mosads}Kenya is the birthplace of Obama’s father, and the president has long faced false accusations from the so-called “birther” movement that he is not a U.S. citizen. Obama released his birth certificate in 2011.
He laughed off the “birthers” this month during his appearance at the annual Gridiron Dinner.
Responding to former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s comment that he does not love America, Obama said: “If I did not love America, I wouldn’t have moved here from Kenya.”
