‘Exodus’ banned in Morocco

Move over “The Interview.” Another Christmas-time Hollywood blockbuster is in trouble.

Morocco has banned its theaters from showing Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings” just a day before it was to be screened.

{mosads}It was not immediately clearly why the Christian Bale epic was being banned. According to AFP, the Moroccan Cinema Center had previously given it the green light.

The film stars Bale as Moses, and depicts the Biblical figure’s exodus from Egypt.

Theater managers told reporters they had been directed to not show the film.

“They phoned and threatened they would shut down the theater if I did not take the film off the schedule,” said Hassan Belkady of Cinema Rif in Casablanca.
