Maher: Cantor shocker should hit Dems

Liberal comedian Bill Maher said House Majority leader Eric Cantor’s historic defeat in Tuesday’s primary would never happen to a Democrat, but it should.

“This could never happen on the left. I wish it could. I wish somebody would come along and say to [Massachusetts Sen.] Elizabeth Warren — who I happen to love — ‘You know what? You’re not left enough,’” Maher said on Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

{mosads}Maher called Cantor’s loss to Dave Brat, a little known Tea-Party backed economics professor, a “political earthquake,” which has shaken up GOP’s leadership ranks.

The late-night host also jabbed the Virginia lawmaker’s approach to government spending.

“Eric, if you’re watching: Don’t think of it as being thrown out on your a–, think of it as making big government dependents go out and get a job,” Maher said mockingly.

“Even Eric Cantor has to admit, if you spend your life cutting programs that help children, you deserve to get beaten by a guy named Brat.”
