Jimmy Carter’s evolution: From ex-president to text-president

Former President Jimmy Carter, 89, may have concerns about the privacy of his emails, but that didn’t stop him from sending his first text message on Wednesday.

Carter’s grandson Jason, who is running for governor of Georgia, tweeted a photo Wednesday of the former president’s first text after an interview with Stephen Colbert the day before.

The 39th president made headlines Sunday when he told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he thinks the National Security Agency might be monitoring his emails.

“As a matter of fact, you know, I have felt that my own communications were probably monitored. And when I want to communicate with a foreign leader privately, I type or write the letter myself, put it in the post office and mail it, because I believe if I sent an email, it will be monitored,” he admitted.  

NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander has denied that the spy agency has any interest in the former president.
