Rick Perry takes on Ted Nugent

Republican Gov. Rick Perry (Texas) on Thursday said Ted Nugent’s remark calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel” was “inappropriate.”

{mosads}“I’ve got a problem with someone calling the president a ‘mongrel.’ That is an inappropriate thing to say,” Perry said on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.”

Nugent made the comment in an interview at a Las Vegas trade show last month.

“I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame, enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist-raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America,” Nugent said.

Perry called those “pretty tough words,” and said he wouldn’t have used them.

“The idea that Ted Nugent has said something outrageous shouldn’t surprise anybody,” Perry said.

Nugent appeared at a campaign event for Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) this week, who’s running for governor this November.

Perry declined to say whether Abbott’s decision to bring Nugent onboard was appropriate.

Sarah Palin endorsed Abbott on Wednesday and defended his choice to have Nugent campaign for him.
