Obama golfs at Oracle CEO’s private course

President Obama is going golfing on Sunday at a private course owned by billionaire Oracle chief executive Larry Ellison.

Obama is staying at the Sunnylands estate outside of Palm Springs, Calif., over the weekend, after delivering a speech on the state’s drought at a farm near Fresno and meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Friday. He went golfing on Saturday with three longtime friends from Hawaii, who are also filling out the foursome on Sunday.

{mosads}Ellison’s 19-hole golf course in Rancho Mirage, Calif., sits on a 249-acre desert estate called Porcupine Creek that also hosts four guesthouses, a swimming pool, driving range and Mediterranean-style villa, according to The Los Angeles Times.

It was built slightly more than a decade ago by timber moguls Tim and Edra Blixseth, who have since divorced. Ellison reportedly paid $42.9 million for the property in 2011.

Ellison is the third-wealthiest person in the country, according to Forbes, with a net worth of $41 billion.

He has opposed Obama in recent elections. In 2012, he contributed $5,000 to Republican nominee Mitt Romney and gave another $3 million to Restore Our Future, a pro-Romney Super PAC, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.
