Palin calls on Obama to stop playing race card

Sarah Palin on Monday used a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. before calling on President Obama to stop playing the race card.

On her Facebook page, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate posted a quote from King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

{mosads}”I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

She turned her attention to Obama in the second paragraph.

“Mr. President, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and all who commit to ending any racial divide, no more playing the race card.”

In approximately two hours, the post had garnered more than 16,000 “likes” and almost 1,000 comments.

Race also came up in an interview published by The New Yorker over the weekend.

“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President,” Obama told David Remnick. “Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black President.”

“There is a historic connection between some of the arguments that we have politically and the history of race in our country, and sometimes it’s hard to disentangle those issues,” Obama added.
