Poll: Obama’s approval falls among wealthy

President Obama’s weekly job approval rating stands at 40 percent, according to Gallup — tied with the lowest of his presidency. 

Obama’s weekly approval rating, however, is nearly identical to the last three weeks. In each of the last three weeks the number stood at 41 percent, which had dropped from 43 percent in late October.

{mosads}The slight dip from last month has come primarily from wealthy individuals with postgraduate degrees. Support among people who make more than $90,000 has dropped 9 percent, while support among those with postgraduate degrees dipped 8 points. A similar drop was found with people living in the East — all demographics that overlap. 

Obama’s support among seniors also fell 5 percent. His numbers with young adults have not changed since last month. 

A swath of polling this month has shown Obama’s numbers sinking near all-time lows in polling. 

His weekly average has hit 40 percent two other times during his presidency, both during the debt-ceiling debate in 2011. 

The numbers come as the administration has faced tough criticism of its rollout of the new healthcare exchanges and reports of millions of people on the individual market losing their insurance. 

The weekly average polled a large sample size of 3,064 people last week and contains a 2 percent margin of error.
