Obama to campaign in swing states during Republican National Convention

President Obama will campaign in three key battleground states during the week of the Republican National Convention.

Obama will visit Colorado, Iowa and Virginia in a two-day swing starting on Aug. 28. Obama will be in Fort Collins, Colorado on and Ames, Iowa on Tuesday and Charlottesville, Va. on Wednesday, the White House announced on Wednesday.

{mosads}The trip takes place during the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., which begins on Monday, Aug. 27.

Both first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Biden will also be making prominent public appearances during the convention. Biden will travel to Tampa, Florida for campaign events on Monday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 28, the White House announced Tuesday.

Michelle Obama will also appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Aug. 29, the third day of the convention.

The campaign events are also noteworthy as presidents usually don’t make prominent campaign stops during the opposing party’s national convention.
