Obama team debuts Spanish-language ads with media mogul Cristina Saralegui

{mosads}In the ads, which will air in Nevada, Colorado and Florida, Saralegui heralds the president’s healthcare reforms and economic platform.

In her endorsement Monday, Saralegui acknowledged the crucial role the Hispanic vote could play in the coming election.

“This is a critical time for our country and for the Hispanic community,” she said in a statement. “Hispanics could very well decide the next election, and I will do everything I can from now until November to ensure that President Obama is reelected; there’s simply too much at stake.

“President Obama, I was very fortunate to live the American Dream and I know that only you will make it possible for millions more to do the same. You’ve had our back, and now, with utmost respect and admiration, I have yours,” she added.

The commercials come less than a day after the Romney campaign released a new Spanish-language ad slamming President Obama for his comment recently that the private sector was “doing fine.” A recut version of an English-language ad released last week, the Romney ad highlights discouraging job numbers for Hispanic Americans.

Both Romney and Obama will have a chance to appeal to Hispanic voters in person this week, with the two candidates slated to appear at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials’ annual conference.
