GOP lawmaker: ‘The Judiciary Committee has become a giant Instagram filter’

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) said the Judiciary Committee has turned into “a giant Instagram filter” that’s skewing reality following a vote to expand the committee’s powers to investigate the president.

The comments came as the House Judiciary Committee voted along party lines Thursday to broaden the panel’s powers to investigate President Trump as Democrats seek to build their case for impeachment — and clean up their oversight message amid a month of mixed signals.

{mosads}”What’s happened today is great. The Judiciary Committee has became a giant Instagram filter to make you appear that something’s happening that’s not,” Collins, the ranking member in the Judiciary panel, said during the committee meeting.

“Nothing we have here is anything that could not have been handled five minutes before a hearing of any time that we have,” Collins added.

The vote fell along partisan lines after two hours of debate. Republican members accused the Democrats of going forth with “a charade” of impeachment proceedings without initiating a full investigation.
