Trump endorses Walker Stapleton in Colorado gubernatorial race

President Trump endorsed State Treasurer Walker Stapleton (R) in the Colorado gubernatorial race on Wednesday.

{mosads}Trump praised Stapleton for being “highly respected” and having impeccable “credentials and talents.”

Stapleton is running against Rep. Jared Polis (R) to replace outgoing Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), who is term-limited.

Polling for this race is limited, but a survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation/Colorado Health Foundation released Wednesday shows Polis with the support of 44 percent of the registered voters surveyed, compared to 33 percent for Stapleton.

However, 21 percent of Colorado voters indicated they remain undecided, meaning Trump’s endorsement still has the potential to swing the race. Though the Kaiser poll was released on Oct. 10, it surveyed 1,600 registered voters between mid-August and Sept. 19.

Trump lost Colorado in the 2016 presidential election to Hillary Clinton by a 48 percent to 43 percent margin.
