At his rally in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, Donald Trump attacked The Club for Growth, which has launched an multimillion-dollar advertising campaign against the GOP front-runner.

{mosads}Trump claimed the conservative group came to him a year ago asking for $1 million and is angry because he turned them down.

“You can be rich, but you don’t want to be stupid, people,” Trump said. “I told them very nicely we’re not interested in getting extorted. Anytime you see Club for Growth it’s extortion.”

The group is reportedly spending $2 million on ads in Florida, Illinois and Missouri that target Trump’s liberal record.

“He’s not really a conservative,” Club For Growth President David McIntosh said earlier this month. “He’ll tell what he wants you to hear, and who knows what he’d do if he got into office.”

McIntosh has denied Trump’s claims that the group asked the business mogul for $1 million last summer.
