Woman believed to be the oldest ever to give birth delivers twins
The oldest woman believed to have given birth has delivered twins.
Erramatti Mangayamma, a 73-year-old farmer, welcomed her twin daughters into the world after a caesarian section in India on Thursday, CNN reported.
{mosads}From the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, Mangayamma was impregnated through IVF after she and her 80-year-old husband could not conceive naturally during their more than 55 years of marriage, according to CNN.
“The surgery went well … the mother and the babies are all healthy with no complications,” Dr. Sanakayyala Umashankar, who conducted the C-section because of Mangayamma’s age, told CNN.
The mother will be watched over by doctors for the next 21 days.
