Prosecutors seek June trial for Epstein

Billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein may go to trail as early as June over charges of sex trafficking dozens of girls, Reuters reports

The outlet reported during a Manhattan federal court hearing Wednesday that prosecutors asked for a June 2020 trail date, but Epstein’s lawyer asked for an additional three months to review what is expected to be more than 1 million pages in evidence.

{mosads}U.S. District Judge Richard Berman said he would tentatively set aside time for a trial beginning June 8 but would revisit the issue later, Reuters reports.

Berman previously denied bail for Epstein, 66, after prosecutors argued the billionaire is a flight risk.

Last week, reports said Epstein was found unconscious in a Manhattan jail cell with injuries to his neck. Reuters reported there were no visible injuries on Epstein at his Wednesday court appearance.

Epstein was arrested earlier this month and is accused of sexually assaulting more than 30 girls.

Prosecutors allege Epstein arranged underage girls to perform sex acts and some were paid to recruit other girls. He has pleaded not guilty.
