Former special counsel Robert Mueller in 2019 generated more social media interactions than the season finale of “Game of Thrones” and the blockbuster movie “Avengers: Endgame” combined, according to data reported by Axios on Monday.
At his peak — with the release of the report in April — Mueller generated 30.1 million social media interactions, outpacing the peak interactions of Avengers, at 10.5 million, and Game of Thrones, at 10.2 million.
Axios based its report on data the outlet acquired from social media analytics company NewsWhip.
{mosads}The data shows Mueller continued to be one of the most trending topics during last week’s House committee hearings when Mueller generated 14.3 million social media interactions between Monday and Friday.
Mueller testified in front of the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees last week for more than five hours.
The former special counsel frustrated lawmakers from both sides of the aisle by refusing to answer a number of questions while referring them back to his report. He was asked about an array of topics from the findings outlined in his 448-page report on Russia’s election interference.
Following the testimony, more Democrats joined the call to begin impeachment inquiries against President Trump, bringing the total to 103 based on a list maintained by The Hill.
His appearance failed, however, to sway Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) decision to hold off on impeachment proceedings to gather more evidence.
Polling following his appearance suggested that despite the large social media numbers, the hearing did little to change the opinions of nearly half of Americans regarding Trump’s impeachment.
An ABC/Ipsos poll released Sunday found that 47 percent of respondents who had read, saw or heard about Mueller’s testimony said his appearance made no difference to their support or opposition to impeachment proceedings.
