The Hoggs, along with their classmates at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, have in recent months advocated for candidates that support stricter gun laws. David Hogg was one of the principal organizers of the March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C.
The students have railed against politicians who send “thoughts and prayers” after tragedies such as school shootings rather than passing stricter gun laws.
David Hogg claimed that Comstock’s staffers “slammed the door” to her office when they saw him and other Parkland students trying to meet with lawmakers.
This reminds me of the time @lauren_hoggs @lauvnicole and I walked by @BarbaraComstock office and her staffers saws us and slammed the door. https://t.co/jWrUBgBaL5

Comstock, one of the most vulnerable incumbent GOP representatives, lost her race on Tuesday to Democrat Jennifer Wexton in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District.
Throughout the campaign, Wexton tied her opponent to President Trump. In ads, she referred to Comstock as “Barbara Trump-stock.”
