Nurse charged in death of McMaster’s father

A nurse was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the death of former national security adviser H.R. McMaster’s father.

The Associated Press reported that Christiann Shyvin Gainey, 33, was also charged with neglect and records tampering.

H.R. McMaster Sr. died last month at age 84 several hours after he fell and hit his head at the Cathedral Village retirement community in Philadelphia. Authorities opened an investigation into the death a short time later.

Prosecutors said they found surveillance video that showed Gainey failed to properly conduct required evaluations on McMaster Sr. after the fall. She then falsified documents to make it appear that she had, the AP reported.

McMaster Sr. was a retired U.S. Army officer.

The younger H.R. McMaster left the Trump administration roughly a week before his father died after serving for a little over a year.

John Bolton has since taken over the national security adviser role.
