Former Dem Rep. Dingell hits Ty Cobb over White House exit
Former Democratic Rep. John Dingell (Mich.) trolled White House lawyer Ty Cobb on Wednesday for his upcoming exit from President Trump’s legal team.
Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in history, joked that the White House attorney’s retirement was much funnier than that of the hall-of-fame baseball player of the same name from the 1920s.

“I’ve now lived through two completely unrelated Ty Cobb retirements. The latter was infinitely more hilarious than the former. Nice mustache, pal,” the 91-year-old tweeted.

Cobb, the lawyer who headed Trump’s legal team against special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, will retire at the end of May.
The outgoing attorney will be replaced by Emmet Flood, a veteran Washington lawyer known for his defense of former President Clinton during his impeachment proceedings in the 1990s. Flood is expected to take a more aggressive approach toward the Russia probe.
Cobb had pushed for cooperation with the special counsel’s team of lawyers — simultaneously urging Trump not to comment publicly on the investigation while considering a possible interview between Mueller and the president.
Dingell, who retired in 2015, has been a frequent critic of the Trump administration on Twitter, once calling the president’s Cabinet officials “deplorables.”
