George H.W. Bush on wife’s passing: ‘Cross the Bushes off your worry list’
Former President George H.W. Bush said on Wednesday that people should “cross the Bushes off [their] worry list” after the passing of former first lady Barbara Bush on Tuesday.
“We have faith she is in heaven, and we know life will go on — as she would have it. So cross the Bushes off your worry list,” Bush wrote of his wife in a statement.
The former first lady died on Tuesday at age 92. She died just a few days after announcing she would no longer seek medical care and instead focus on comfort care.

“I always knew Barbara was the most beloved woman in the world, and in fact I used to tease her that I had a complex about that fact,” Bush said in the statement. “But the truth is the outpouring of love and friendship being directed at The Enforcer is lifting us all up.”
The Bush family nicknamed Barbara Bush the “Enforcer,” and she was also known for spiritedly defending her husband during his presidency.
Barbara Bush’s funeral will be held at St. Martin’s Church in Houston on Saturday. She will have a private burial but there will be a public visitation on Friday.
