Hurricane Jose could threaten New York next week
Hurricane Jose is now approaching the East Coast of the U.S. and may come near New York and other states in the coming week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm is heading northward through the Atlantic and may come near northeastern states midweek including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
Jose is predicted to pass within 200 miles of the coast, but could possibly make direct impact in New England, a meteorologist told Bloomberg.

The National Hurricane Center said it could place parts of North Carolina on a tropical storm watch on Saturday. The storm is currently about 500 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras in the state’s Outer Banks.
Jose was reclassified as a Category 1 hurricane on Friday, one day after it lost steam in its path through the Atlantic and was downgraded to a tropical storm.
The storm passed by the east coast of Florida on Friday at a speed of 10 miles per hour, with relatively low sustained wind speeds of 75 miles per hour.
Jose is the latest storm in a series of hurricanes to affect the U.S. in the past few weeks, following Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which both caused severe devastation in Texas and Florida.
