Trump may throw out first pitch at opening day baseball game: report

President Trump is in talks to potentially throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals’ opening day baseball game next week, Politico Playbook reported.

Trump could also join the announcers at Mid-Atlantic Sports Network to call part of the game.

The White House did not respond to Politico’s request for comment.

The Nationals begin their season Monday at 1 p.m.

{mosads}Presidents are often asked to throw the ceremonial first pitch at opening day baseball games, a custom that began with President William H. Taft.

Former President Obama threw out the first pitch of the Nationals’ opening day game in 2010. He also did so at the 2009 All-Star Game, in his first year as president.

Former President George W. Bush frequently threw out the first pitch at MLB games, doing so at least six times as president and a few more times since then.

Before he was a president, Trump threw out the first pitch at a 2006 Boston Red Sox home game.
