President-elect Donald Trump will be ringing in the New Year with more than 800 guests at his Florida resort, including actor Sylvester Stallone.
Incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, and his youngest son, Barron, will attend events Saturday night at the Mar-a-Lago resort that include a cocktail hour, followed by dinner and dancing in the grand ballroom.
{mosads}Spicer said notable party attendees include Stallone and music producer Quincy Jones.
The “Rocky” actor was reportedly one of Trump’s picks for the chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts, but Stallone said he wouldn’t accept the position if offered.
“I am incredibly flattered to have been suggested to be involved with the National Endowment of the Arts,” Stallone told BuzzFeed earlier this month.
“However I believe I could be more effective by bringing national attention to returning military personnel in an effort to find gainful employment, suitable housing and financial assistance these heroes respectfully deserve.”
On the transition call, Spicer also confirmed Trump’s Friday meetings with former Texas agriculture commissioner and comptroller Susan Combs, who’s being considered for Agriculture secretary; former Rep. Henry Bonilla (R-Texas); Howard Lorber, CEO of the Vector Group; and Al Hubbard, economic policy adviser to former President George W. Bush.
Spicer said there would be an update about the timing and participants of Trump’s meeting next week with intelligence officials regarding Russia. The update will either come through pool reports Friday or on Tuesday’s transition call.
