Cher devastated over Charleston shooting: ‘We r not born w/hate. Hate is taught.’

Singer Cher expressed sorrow on Thursday over a mass shooting that killed nine people at a historic African-American church in Charleston, S.C.

“My heart goes out 2 the ppl of Emanuel AME church,” she wrote on her Twitter page of Wednesday evening’s attack at Emanuel African Methodist Church.

“This act should B devastating 2 all in USA,” she added. “We r not born w/hate. Hate is taught. Hate=murder.”

{mosads}The “Believe” musician then urged her fans to show support for the incident’s victims.

“Please take 1 moment & let us hold the 9 families, the Mother Emanuel AME Church & all the ppl of South Carolina close 2 our hearts,” she tweeted.

Cher initially misidentified the state where Wednesday evening’s shooting took place. The pop star mixed up North and South Carolina in her original call for support.

“Sorry if I mistakenly twtd North, & not South Carolina,” Cher said. “I was despondent while typing. This is devastating 4 us personally & as Americans.”

Police captured the main suspect in the shooting on Thursday morning after a 14-hour manhunt.

Dylann Storm Roof, 21, was apprehended in Shelby, N.C., nearly 250 miles away from the scene of the crime.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Thursday that it is investigating the event as a possible hate crime. Witnesses said Roof allegedly uttered racial epithets before opening fire on Wednesday night.
