Obama to appear on Kimmel show

President Obama is returning to the late-night talk show circuit this week with an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” 

The president is flying to Los Angeles on Thursday, where he’ll appear on Kimmel’s ABC show and attend a Democratic National Committee event, according to the White House. 

The Hollywood Reporter first reported Obama’s Kimmel appearance. The last time Obama went on a late-night comedy program was last December, when he was featured on one of Stephen Colbert’s final Comedy Central shows.

Obama appeared on Kimmel’s show via satellite in 2008, during his first presidential campaign. Kimmel also hosted the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2012. 

Actor Sean Penn will be Kimmel’s other guest on Thursday’s show.
