Cowboys’ owner funded Christie’s trip to Sunday’s game

The owner of the Dallas Cowboys funded New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s trip to Sunday’s football game.

“Governor Christie attended the game last night as a guest of Jerry Jones, who provided both the ticket and transportation at no expense to New Jersey taxpayers,” the governor’s spokesman Kevin Roberts confirmed.

Jerry Jones reportedly flew Christie to the game against the Detroit Lions in his private jet.

Though state law allows the governor to accept gifts, favors, services, gratuities, meals, loadging and travel expenses that come from relatives or personal friends if they are paid for with personal funds, non-Cowboy fans in New Jersey have been criticizing Christie for attending so many games.

A photo of Jones and Christie awkwardly hugging created a firestorm as it circulated Twitter Sunday night, pushing Todd Christie to come to his brother’s defense.

 “To all of those non Cowboy fans who have their panties in a ringer because the Governor of NJ is a Cowboys fan—GET A LIFE,” he wrote on Facebook.

Christie is still deciding whether to run for the presidency in 2016.
