‘Duck Dynasty’ petition hits 250K signatures

A petition to reinstate “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson on Friday surpassed its goal of 250,000 signatures.

The online petition was started by Faith Driven Consumer, an organization that seeks to support businesses it feels meets Christian values. As of Friday afternoon, the petition had 256,946 signatures.

{mosads}Robertson was suspended from the A&E show last week, after he made anti-gay remarks in an interview in GQ magazine.

The petition objects to his suspension and calls for his reinstatement.

“Mr. Robertson’s comments in GQ Magazine are simply reflective of a Biblical view of sexuality, marriage, and family — a view that has stood the test of time for thousands of years and continues to be held by the majority of Americans and today’s world as a whole,” the petition states.

“Many members of the LGBT community may not agree with this view, but the notion that a free-thinking American should be discriminated against simply for expressing a perspective that is in conflict with another is patently un-American and flies in the face of true tolerance and civility.”

Faith Driven Consumer threatens to boycott A&E, if it does not reinstate him, instead turning to “a reformulation of Duck Dynasty on another network.”

Republicans, including Sarah Palin, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), have also defended Robertson.
