Actor Ben Stein revisits his beloved character from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” in a new campaign ad for Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).
Stein once again plays a teacher who cannot locate a missing student — this time, it’s Grassley’s Democratic challenger, Patty Judge.
{mosads}“Judge?” an increasingly flustered Stein asks six times, before giving up when she cannot be found. Overlaid are attacks on Judge’s attendance record in her previous government jobs.
“Grassley?” Stein’s teacher then asks.
“Here,” an enthusiastic voice responds as the clip touts how Grassley has not missed a Senate vote in 23 years.
“He’s always here,” Stein mutters as the spot ends.
Stein memorably played a teacher dryly taking attendance in the 1986 film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
Stein is also a political commentator and former speechwriter for Republican presidents.
Grassley has a safe edge in the race, leading Judge by about 16 points, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
