Senate races

Top Clinton super PAC jumps into NH Senate fight

The top-dollar super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton will begin putting money into critical Senate races as the Democratic nominee’s lead in the presidential election over Republican Donald Trump widens.

Priorities USA is becoming more confident that Clinton can pull off a win against Trump in November and is jumping into races in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, both of which can help determine which party controls the Senate.

{mosads}In a new ad in New Hampshire titled “No Principles,” Priorities USA hits incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte for calling Trump a role model for children, a comment she later walked back.

“Kelly Ayotte’s all politics, no principles,” the narrator says.

Ayotte is facing Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) in a competitive race that is considered a toss up just weeks before the election.

Ayotte never formally endorsed Trump but had said she would vote for him. But after the release of a 2005 tape in which Trump brags about groping and kissing women without their consent, Ayotte said she would no longer vote for the GOP nominee.

The multi-million dollar ad buy will air in the Manchester, N.H., market.

According to The New York Times, Priorities USA will also back ads in favor of Katie McGinty, the Democrat challenging Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey (R).

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook also told reporters earlier this week that the campaign would increase spending in traditionally red states in a bid to boost Clinton’s numbers and help Democrats down the ballot.

“Democrats have a historic opportunity to elect not just the first woman president, but leaders across the country who will work with her to create jobs and get incomes rising,” Mook said
