Obama shows off his Spanish in Florida Senate race ad
President Obama shows off his Spanish in a new campaign ad for Democrat Patrick Murphy in Florida’s Senate race.
Obama calls on Hispanic voters in Florida to back Murphy in his challenge to unseat Sen. Marco Rubio (R).
{mosads}“I’m Barack Obama and I’d like to tell you why Patrick Murphy should be your senator,” the president says in Spanish in the ad.
“Patrick will fight for immigration reform, better education and higher wages, working each day to improve our lives. Go out and vote for Patrick. Your vote is very important.”
Murphy, who currently represents Florida’s 18th Congressional District, applauded the president in a statement Wednesday and vowed to preserve and expand his legacy. He also bashed Rubio for supporting GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“While I am proud to stand with President Obama to fight for Florida families, Marco Rubio stands with Donald Trump,” Murphy said. “Rubio abandoned Florida’s Hispanic communities on immigration reform and stands by Trump’s bigoted attacks and racist immigration agenda.
“I look forward to spending the next six years fighting for Florida’s Hispanic communities and all Floridians in the U.S. Senate.”
