Senate Dem PAC pulling out of Florida

The Senate Majority PAC is canceling advertising buys in Florida through Election Day as polls show Sen. Marco Rubio (R) maintaining a significant lead over Rep. Patrick Murphy (D).

{mosads}The group, the largest PAC supporting Senate Democratic candidates, had $6 million in television advertising reservations booked across Florida in the last month before Election Day.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee still has millions booked over the last remaining weeks of the campaign, but they, too, have pulled some ads in recent weeks.

Rubio, who decided to run for reelection after his presidential campaign fell short, raised a whopping $9 million in the three-month span ending Sept. 30. Murphy’s campaign pulled in $3.3 million over the same time frame.

Rubio leads Murphy in both public and internal surveys. An Emerson College poll out this week showed Rubio ahead 47 percent to 39 percent, while a Quinnipiac poll showed him leading 48 percent to 44 percent. Two surveys released last week showed Rubio ahead by similar margins.

Florida is the second state where Senate Democrats have all but conceded they cannot win in November, along with Ohio, where polls show Sen. Rob Portman (R) in strong position to win reelection.

Instead, Democrats have invested late money in North Carolina and Missouri, where Republican Sens. Richard Burr and Roy Blunt, respectively, face stronger-than-expected Democratic challengers. Some recent polls show both Burr and Blunt trailing.
