Democratic super PAC hits Toomey with new ad
Democratic fundraising group Senate Majority PAC is hitting vulnerable Republican Sen. Pat Toomey (Pa.) with a new ad criticizing his past support for eliminating corporate taxes.
{mosads}Democrats see the Pennsylvania Senate seat as one of their best pick-up opportunities now that Republicans have shored up their incumbents in Ohio and Florida, two other battlegrounds. Dems need to pick up just four Senate seats and hold on to the White House to reclaim the majority.
The ad opens with shot of Wall Street overlaid with streaming stock-price data as the narrator says: “If you thought the economy was already rigged by corporate special interests, listen to Pat Toomey.”
It then cuts to a 2007 clip of Toomey telling CNBC, “I think the solution is to eliminate corporate taxes altogether.”
The narrator then says: “That’s right, Toomey wanted corporations to pay zero in taxes. The same Toomey who’s already given tax breaks to big oil and Wall Street — the ones who are funding his campaign.”

It flashes to another clip from the 2007 interview of Toomey arguing, “Let’s not tax corporations.”
Polls show Toomey running neck and neck with Democratic candidate Katie McGinty.
The ad is running in Pittsburgh, Scranton and Harrisburg starting Thursday. It’s part of a $10 million ad campaign Senate Majority PAC launched in Pennsylvania a few weeks ago.
