Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) got funky to celebrate Oktoberfest, doing the chicken dance during a stop at a newspaper office in Ohio on Friday.
{mosads}Portman joked with Cincinnati Enquirer staffers beforehand that they should “make a big circle.”
The Ohio Republican joined a photographer and the Enquirer’s social media editor in the dance to mark the Oktoberfest celebration, which started in Cincinnati on Friday.
In the video, an Enquirer staffer jokes that they are making a “sacrifice” on the “altar of dignity” by performing the dance, which involves flapping your arms like a chicken.
Portman faces former Gov. Ted Strickland in the state’s Senate race this fall. He is currently ahead by more than 13 points, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
