Former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) on Monday needled Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) for skipping an appearance with Donald Trump.

“I support the nominee of our party, Hillary Clinton,” he said during a campaign stop in Pewaukee, Wis., according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

{mosads}“I’m willing to mention her name, our vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine, unlike Sen. Johnson, who couldn’t even find his way to Green Bay to be with the nominee of his party. I have no hesitation at all. Hillary Clinton is going to be a very good president.”

The Journal-Sentinel said Johnson, Gov. Scott Walker (R) and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) did not appear with Trump in Green Bay last Friday, with all three citing other commitments.

Feingold on Monday reportedly called it an “unprecedented” snub of a Republican presidential nominee.

“They know just as well as we do, Donald Trump shouldn’t be president,” he said, according to the newspaper. “Everybody knows that. He’s not capable of it. He shouldn’t be president.

“What folks should do is just be honest and say, ‘Look, we’re going to lose this one. We can’t responsibly allow a man like this to become president and accept it.’ Instead, they’re playing games.”

The Journal-Sentinel added that Feingold missed an appearance by Kaine, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, last Friday in Milwaukee. Feingold also cited a scheduling conflict.
