John Bolton PAC spending $700K in two key Senate races
John Bolton’s political action committee is launching a $700,000 digital ad buy touting the national security bona fides of two Republicans facing competitive Senate races this cycle.
{mosads}Bolton SuperPAC, which is led by the former United Nations ambassador, will starting run ads in support of Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.) on Thursday.
The videos, which have five different themes for both states, will run on Google, Facebook, Twitter, Pandora and a host of local news publications in both Nevada and New Hampshire.
The ads backing Ayotte, who will likely face New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) if she advances from the Sept. 13 primary, highlight her past experience as a prosecutor and state attorney general and argue that she will be able to keep American families safe and combat terrorism.
The other videos make a similar case for Heck, a military reservist and former first responder who faces a tough battle against former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto (D) for Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) seat.
Democrats and Republicans are in a tight battle for the Senate majority. Democrats need to gain five seats — or four seats and retain the White House — to regain control. They are only defending 10 seats, compared to Republicans who are defending 24.
The PAC said that there will be additional ad buys in the upcoming months. The group has already donated $100,000 to 16 Republicans in both House and Senate races.
